*How long is the class?
As mandated by the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) all classes are eight (8) hours. Lunch and breaks are not included in those eight hours. You will be surprised at how fast those hours pass. Our instructor(s) teach in a way that is energetic and dynamic. We even teach Spanish speakers who cannot speak the English language. Call 757-816-6341 and ask for more information.
*Is the course approved by the Virginia DMV and the Virginia Courts?
Yes! Our Driver Improvement Program (DIP) is approved by the Virginia DMV, the Virginia Courts, and AAA of Tidewater.
*How many points will I receive for attending a DIP?
If ordered to take a DIP course by the Virginia Courts they determine if you get the +5 points. You will be awarded the +5 points if mandated by the DMV or if you Volunteer to take a class.
*Is there a test?
Yes. At the end of the day, there is a final exam which covers all the material covered. You MUST pass with 80% correct. Again, we have a 100% pass rate and have never had anyone fail our test since opening in 2002.
*What if I fail the test?
Our pass rate is 100% on the final exam. However, if you have trouble passing the test we will provide you with study materials and you may retake* the exam the next day or next business day. In fact, you may take the exam as many times as is necessary and there are no additional charges. According to DMV, you are only allowed to retake the test once a day.*
*How do I register and pay for a DIP clinic session?
Have your Driver's License (D.L.) in hand, call our office at 757-816-6341, and pre-register. As forms of payment, we accept Cash, Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express credit cards.
*How often can I attend a DIP?
You may attend a DIP once every 24 months; however, if you need a Certificate for court purposes, you may retake the course within that period as many times as you would like (you just do not receive the +5 points within that 24 month period).
*Do you teach Spanish speaking drivers?
Indeed we do! We have partnered with a Spanish interpreter to teach the Hispanic community. Call us at 757-816-6341 for more information.
*What do I need to bring to the class?
Number one - a healthy attitude! Then, the class fee (if you did not pre-pay) and a photo ID with your D.L. number on it. We must have your D.L. with your DMV customer number; otherwise, we are unable to report to the DMV that you successfully completed the course.
